Yep, I changed out the Amp gauge to a Voltage gauge I installed it in the stock housing and just used the face so that I had the voltage increments so it looks stock.
Now I wont get stranded if the alternator dies again
I'm going to work on upgrading a stock cluster this way and if all goes well maybe I can peddle them.

Well, I did see that you had a volt meter too. I tried some regular old SW guages in an F600 dash plate and found the holes to be smaller than a standard gauge. What did you use? I like the thing you did with the volt meter face. Now get the F600 tach face on an electronic one. If you need another stock gauge cluster, I have one from a school bus. The dash plate itself seems to be much different on a cowl and chassis than from the regular cab F600 but I think the gauge cluster is the same.

I took the guts out of a new gauge and put/modified it to fit in the old stock gauge housing. It works really slick, only thing is the volatage gauge is so sensitive and the truck wiring so under rated, that when you turn on the turn signals the gauge shows the voltage drop with each flash. still better then the worthless amp gauge.
I'll send you a PM on the cluster you have.
Thanks for all the comments everyone! I'm glad this worked out where it doesn't stick out and looks pretty stock. I like this instrument panel as it is a little easier for my tallness to see all the gauges better and it just looks too.

That sounds like those old Mopars with everything run through the amp gauge, they would flop the needle like that.

I been that route on my Duster. The best thing you can do is wire around the amp gauge & run a aftermarket volt meter.

I see you are in Boise. I'm in Lowman about 1 1/2 north/east of you. I'm about to try and installed the same type of instrament cluster (F600). You said you reset the speedometer. Can you explain to me how this is done. Any help would be appreciated.
What brand/style gauge did you buy to gut and mount in the F600 panel? Was it easy to do and how did you mount it in the F600 housing once it was out of it orignal casing?
I am tempted to do this as I do not like how my F600 gauges (gas, oil, temp, amp) are reading on my F600 cluster after my conversion. I really like what you did and am inclinded to do something similar, but I want to make sure I do it right the first time so I dont have to buy gauge after gauge from breaking them or getting gauges that wont mount propertly. I really like the look of the Auto Meter Old Tyme Black gauges as a replacement, but I am afraid to buy them and start pulling them apart only to find out they will not work for what I need. What is the make of your Volt gauge?

Sorry for the late reply, somehow I missed this as I was working out of town all summer without my computer.
Basically I took and used the stock gauge housing by carefully pulling it apart and then putting the new gauge guts inside of it. I had to do a little filing on the stock face plate to clear the needle and some on the housing and cluster for the terminals width to clear, and shimmed the depth of the new guts up a bit to make it the same as the old ones.

I can tell you what is wrong with your gage panel Its not in my truck.
