DID YOU KNOW?
The official start date of each model year is the first Monday following the 4th of July but no cars are actually built then. (Ford had a two-week shutdown encompassing the Fourth to allow for retooling and to force production workers to use their vacation time.) Ford schedules the new cars for 4th of July as the date to begin production and all really low serial numbered cars have a scheduled production date of 7/4, but cars didn't actually roll off the line until August. (Low serial numbered cars meaning cars who's sequential number are 00001-00009 or so.) Keep in mind that Ford didn't stop making the previous model year's models by that date...it's the date they scheduled production for the new year's models. Some special-ordered cars were still built after that date at many plants, well into the new model year.
