Onan Generator Dealership Displayl?
While cleaning out a house, I found an Onan generator. It's mounted on a piece of plywood and there is tape over the air intake and tape over what I believe is the grounding wire, all of which are painted Ford blue. A little MMO and it turns over smooth, the plug looks fairly clean and the oil looks brand new. Since the exhaust port is pointed right at the plywood, I don't think anyone ran it in this configuration and I don't think anyone would have gone thru all the trouble of painting the board and the tape pieces just to store it. Does anyone know if Ford made any of the generators as dealership displays or maybe this is the way they shipped from the factory for dealership install? I'm wondering if this thing has not been run since it was tested at the factory. I know there are not a lot of the generators around but I'm trying to figure out if this one is a little special before I start working on it. Anyone know the history?

There is an Onan Generator article on the http://www.fordification.com web site. Don't know if it will answer your question but it is very interesting.
Since Onan is still in business they might be able to tell you when and if what you have is historically significant. Under tech articles, interior/electrical,
Onan Generators.

Thank you. I had already read the article before posting but I had not considered calling Onan directly. I'll try that next week.
