Buillitt Bump

Post by Mo-Bronco2 »

I've been on this site before under another username. I'll re-introduce myself in the welcome section, but I have a question. Has anyone ever built a bumpside to resemble the Bullitt Mustang? My daily driver is a '73 Bronco and I thought about doing that to the Bronco, but I don't think it would look right since the wheel-base is so short. I have a '72 bump in pieces in my garage and I'm planning on painting it black with chrome wheels and chrome '69 grill, but looking at the Bullitt Mustang makes me wonder how cool that would be. Any thoughts?

Not sure what you mean what are you looking to change?

I've been rolling around an idea to added some mustang influence to my 69 F100.
For example I wonder how a chin spoiler would look like they used to run on Boss or Mach1's, like this Twister:

I'm talking about paint scheme and the same wheels. Some sort of front ground affect would be cool. Anybody have something that?

The closest I can come is my paint choice. I had my crew painted with Dark Highland Green which is the tribute color they came out with for the Bullitt anniversary Mustang in 2008. It is pretty much the same green only not single stage and a little more metal in the paint. Other than that, I don't know how to make a 69 F350 Crew Cab look like a Mustang.

2x.. the styling qeues are the paint color, the Torq-Thrust D wheels (or similar), and emblem delete. The Mustang styling would include a grill decor delete, side scoops, small mirrors, chin spoiler, and minimal bumpers (good bye 80-lb dock bumper!). A hoodscoop would be nice as would 68 Mustang GT exhaust cut-outs, and thin bumpers with chrome-only valance guards under the front bumper. Oh, gotta have CA black plates with "JJZ 109"

It's gonna have to be a lowered 2WD shortbed for that sporty look. Someone needs to commission an artist to do a rendering.

A front spoiler from a 2011-2013 SuperDuty. There are two versions.. a four-inch and an eight-inch.

Side scoops-

Simplifying the grill is gonna be a challenge with these Bumps. But look at the 68 Mustang's nose and the nose from a 2013 GT 500. See the "mouth" and the angled separation btwn the headlights and the grill?

Image Image

Take a look at this '56 F100 custom from SEMA 2013.. see the angled separations? I think it would have looked better if they leaned forward and blended into the grill opening header panel like the 2013 GT500.

So, who is gonna step up and pull it off?

What about something like this maybe round out the inner corners and blend the bumper into the grill?
The open space could be filled with the cross hatch material like in the cobra or just straight black or chrome bars.

That truck in your rendering looks familiar! LOL
Cool idea of making a Bullitt truck. Don't make too many mods though because sometimes less is more. Wheels, paint, lowered, and maybe tucked bumpers would look nice!

If you can wait a little while you'll be able to test your ideas in 1/25 scale with the new moebius bump model kit...
or you can try it with the diecast 1/24 released recently

I just got a valance from a Super Duty for my 69’ Step Side. I really like this look. I’m curious if anyone can comment on the installation procedures/bracketry it took to get this one installed.

I did one from a 94ish Ranger on my '68 Ranchero. Just held it where it looked correct and tek screwed it to the fender and frame rails. The part was stiff enough to stay in form and is still installed almost 20 years later.

Initial test fitting done tonight. Really happy with the results.
