Disk Brake Conversion

Post by FormerMarine1981 »

I have the option to buy a 79 Ford truck complete except for the carb for $300 or parts for free off of an 82 Ford. I know the 79 will work but how much more work would it be to make the 82 model parts work?

Thanks Ben

I know that for my F350, the '80 and newer front suspension is different. The tie rods are behind the ibeams on my 70 and in front on the '80 that I took wheels from.

I'm not an expert, only knowledgable with F350 2WD.

Ben, you could buy the 79 for disc conversion on a bumpside and rob all you want and if you have access to a free trailor, when you are done probably scrap it out yourself and get couple hundred for weight of vehicle. Check first, some yards require title to accept for crush weight. Also, you'll have to remove gas tank, unsure what else. But, to use any 79 disc conversion stuff, must use all on bump, whole works. BUT, hey, you might even get a nice steering column and other stuff. $300 for total truck minus carb is pretty fair deal if you know (check first) you can get 2-250 in crush weight AND can borrow a trailor to haul.

I was thinking about parting it out after I got all the parts I need off of it. If I was told right it has 302 stands in it and a 302. Someone on here might wants the rad suport and inner fenders. AS for trailers.... I have access to a 40 ft goose neck and about 4 other I can pull it onto. Problem is to convince someone to keep it in their pasture for me lol

The 82 calipers and rotors (f150 not f100) will work. all the other parts are different.
68 F100 soon to be on an 80's 4x4 frame and 300-4spd
69 F100 300-4spd
78 F150 300-3spdOD
