So do I need to cut them up at all, or just move it upto the new holes and bolt the mounts on to it???

Sorry, yeah, you will still need to cut the towers down to fit the 4BT mounts (or have me mod them for ya).

Just as a side note on my truck. It does not have power steering. I will leave it like that. Power steering would be nice but to much work on this truck. I will however be putting power brakes on it. I will be getting a whole new disk brake front end from Patrick (460 crew) and the mated t-case. So I will be able to upgrade to the hydroboost. The pump that is on the 4bt I am looking at is the one you say I want, but if i am not using it for power steering just for the hydro boost could I sell it and use a different on just for the hydro boost? I wish there was an easy way to do power steering.

Okay, I have a question. You guys seem to be working with F250's. Are F150's much different regarding install, aside from the divorced T-case? Also, can you eliminate the 2 piece rear driveshaft with with a one piece with this swap? I'm working with a '77 F150 4x4.

I'd keep that pump regardless. The saginaw pump is the best one for hydroboost. You can run any pump you want, there's usually a V-belt accesory pulley you can use to drive anything off the front of the engine, but if you have the good pump I'd definitely use it.

I have been thinking I might go with the power assist for the steering. Just so I have a little help when towing and backing up. Exactly how do the power assist work. I hear they leak. Will I use the same power steering pump for the power assist?

Yes, you can use the same pump for power assist. Tired power assist setups do leak. They're a real nice setup in good shape though. Both my '70 and '71 have power assist. If you're buying a disc front axle from Patrick, ask him if he still has any power assist stuff. I think he has a few setups he'll part with.

Robert, the swap is exactly the same for a '77 F-150 except you'll have an easier time swapping in a 5 speed and mated case since your truck's already mated. If you go with the mazda or ZF 5 speed they're 6-8" longer than a 4 speed/205 and should make it OK to run a one piece rear driveline.

Don't know if it has been answered yet, but what is the fully-dressed weight of a 4BT? More than, say, a fully dressed FE with power steering pump and A/C on it?

Would 1 ton springs be useable for putting a 4BT into a half ton truck? This would be for 2wd.

FE and 4BT weigh the same, 550 pounds. Alternator and PS pump probably weigh pretty close to exactly the same since they are exactly the same.

a 460 weighs quite a bit more than a 4BT and guys stuff them in 1/2 tons all the time. Stock springs should work great.

Those bosch pumps are nice. Something to remember though is mileage isn't a factor. 0 miles or 500,000 doesn't matter beans. If you want really big 4BT power the bosch pump like that one has is the only way to fly.

Yeah it would be nice to have but for $5500.00 I could have alot done around here to make more hp and torque than that. I am still trying to get ahold of the one I showed you earlier in the thread. I am hoping to get it for about $1500.00. We will see. question? What type of after cooler should i look for??? Thanks Mike
