If the Seat Fits...Newer Ford Seat Install

Post by MadMaxetc »

Well I installed a new seat (well new to me) in my 73 (soon to go into my 67) and it is awsome! :D :D

You sit in the same spot as the old seat (well a little higher cuz no busted springs! )

The seat is out of a 90-something Ford (I am going back to that yard and will find out the exact year). The seat rails are 42" center to center and the seat is about 24" deep.

Here is the step by step:
  1. Remove old seat.
  2. Drill out 3 rivits on each mount on old seat. <pic>
  3. Drill out 4 rivits on each mount on new seat. <pic>
  4. Make front hole on old mounts into a slot. <pic>
  5. Bolt on old mounts to new seat. (using the front and rear holes.) <pic>
  6. Install seat into truck! <Pic>
only took mr an hour to do it. 8)

:fr:

Hey Kieth, If you want to use some of these pics thats cool.

Nice isn't it? I put a Vinyl seat from a 95 Ford towtruck in my 67. I have since found a NOS seat covering. I think it sits higher and you can sit closer to the door. A bit wider?

That is something I am going to do. The old seat from my truck just won't do. Thanks for the instructions.

Your seat matches your interior nicely.

I'd keep the headrests. Looks good to me, and it's no fun slamming your head through that back glass in an accident.

That's the only real reason I have to consider a seat swap!!!! Good reason too!

Looks good, Max!

I just took my old brackets off and put them on the new seat. I think it was a 90 or 91?

Went to a boneyard today. No good bench seats at that one. Will try another.

Same thing with mine but I did it 4 or 5 years ago. Think mine came out of a late 80's though. Got it for $ 50  :D
