I have a 72 F250 4x4 crew cab with a inline 6 in it & I want to drop in a 351W. What is needed for it to fit? I think there's holes in the frame for the motor perch's to be moved in the right place. Can anyone give me some insite on this swap? Pic's would help also. Thanks,Ron

re: highboy engine swap
first you need to find a donor vehicle and take the engine, stands, and tranny if the 351 will not fit yours. what tranny do you have? i don't remember if a 351 has the same bell housing pattern as a FE or 6 cylinder, you may need to get an adapter to fit your current tranny. but i would get the tranny that comes with the 351. The 351 and FE/240,300 stands are diffrent. you will need to drill new holes or weld them on. sorry no pics from me as i have not done this swap, but i am sure someone on here has.
Personally my opinion is that a 351 is not a truck engine, it lacks the torque and low rpm grunt. I would go with a FE, say 360, 390, 428. unless you want fuel injection.
if i am mistaken on the tranny patterns or mounts feel free to correct me.
