Have been busy installing a back up water line to the house the last few days, but, I found time to pull the engine out of the truck today. Next will be to wire wheel and paint the front rails, pull the I-beam, see if the king pins are ok, and wire wheel and paint also. Also ordered Energy Suspension axle and radius arm bushings for the I-beam. If you think I have overlooked something, let me know.

Tomorrow I will start removing the I-beam. The King Pins have about 1/16" of play. I think they are fine, but I have never worked with king pins before. What do you think, should I leave them alone?

Wow, your making some good progress! She's going to look great when your done! As for the king pins, I don't have much experience with them either but I would say replace them. It's easier to do it now while the truck is apart, rather than later. I'm sure someone else here will have a little more to add. Keep up the great work!

I would do the King Pins as well. You might want to look into disc brakes for the front too.

I have the disc brakes from a 1978 F150 donor truck, the problem is the 1972 is a manual shift, three on the tree. To much hassle to shorten the 1972 steering column.

Convert it to a floor shift. In my opinion, brakes and steering are the two places to over build your project!

Pulled the king pins, one slid out easy, the other one took an hour. They must of been changed before, plastic bushings. I then pulled the I-beam out.

Today I wire wheeled the front frame and gave it coat of acid.
