Are you using AUTOCAD_, CV_, UG_, CATIA_ or what to drive your NC_ machine? Just wondering.

Dan, it's so simple I just plotted it on some graft paper and went from there manually. I had written up the basic program, but got the 'forbidden' BS and it all dissapeared.

So far I have 26 good parts with a couple more steps to complete. I'll let you know when they're done.

Cool. I do CAD work on CATIA V5 all day so I thought I would ask. I should model one up and post it her for guys to take to machine shops.

I'm pretty familiar with intellectual property law, and I don't believe he can patent a copy of someone else's work. Yes, even if he makes a small change.

If he were to create an entirely new dome light, he might be able to do it.

Bottom line- how many of these can one possibly sell? Maybe 1000? I doubt some chinese company is going to swoop in and mas produce them, leaving him in the cold.

Well, I wouldn't put it past them considering that the US ain't the only place on earth with Bumps.

And I believe since he took a singe plastic piece that was "called" a dome light cover and would be making a two piece cover out of aluminum and plexi that it actually is a whole new item to do the same job.

But this is just my take, and I have been wrong before.

Well, thought about it some and I've decided that I'm going to go home after work instead of slaving away on the mill for two more hours, besides the mill is set up for a job they have to get off tomorow morning so I'll wait. I did talk to one of the machinists and I now know how I'm going to work the fixture to do the relief cuts.

Oh yeah, I do have some 'action' shots of the mill cutting the parts on the cell so I'll see if can get them up on here.
