I'm at a stand still; we forgot to check the clearance on the pushrods with the new roller rockers. The intake will have to come off, and grind the guide holes
elongated for the pushrods not to rub. I bought an electric die grinder with the 1/4 shank at Harbor Freight today for $29.99. I’m also waiting for the carbide burrs to come in from eBay to start taking it apart. :pop:

I have a hard time visualizing why the pushrods would be rubbing with the same ratio rockers as before?

Did you check the vavletrain geometry to make sure that you have the correct length pushrods?

Something doesn't make sense.

I'm using the Edelbrock RPM intake and Precision Oil Pumps stands with the Dove roller rockers. On the Fe forum I've been advised that the guide holes on the after market intake need to be elongated. I hope that's true.

Me to, I can't figure that out myself. I've already set them on the valves and the grinding will be minimal. The pushrods seem to be the right length.

It is pretty common with high lift cams on the FE, do make sure your intake is properly aligned...

I painted the push rods, spun them to see where they rub. Then I started to grind the guide holes. I took them off and put them on like 20 times just to get it right. Today I started to put everything back together. I hope that this will be the last time I have to do anything to this motor other than the regular maintenance. Man it's coming together nice.

TX69F100 as for the heads
hotrodfeguy wrote:I think he is running C8AE-h's if memory serves me well.
Yes, I did some light porting and port matched the intake with the heads. Also they have the 68-72 cc the intake valve is 2.09, and the exuast is 1.65 with hardened seats. Lunati springs, retaners, and keepers.

I turned the motor on today for the first time, sounded real good.
Stupid me I hadn't put on the radiator, and spurted transmission fluid all over the driveway  Tomorrow all the small details will get double checked, and then out for a test drive. :D

I tightened everything, set the timing, and set the carburetor. I haven’t even put 30 minutes on the new rebuild, and it responds fast and solid. I was taking it for a test drive to fill up the tank with premium gas, and on my way around the first corner I kind of hit the gas at about 2000-2500 rpms. The truck slid a bit so I let off. Once I was headed to the main road, I tried it again lightly on the peddle. It went side ways, so I let off and tried to go again. All I heard was the rumble of the drive shaft spinning on the pavement. The two caps are still on the u clamps(one broke). I didn't get upset, I actually I got pretty excited because of all that torque it has :D I'm just glad that I have an A/C that blows cold. Called the wrecker and off to a shop for repair again.
