Awesome, Jamie... keep it up!

I don't know much about acrylic vs. Lexan, other than Lexan is supposed to be stronger. But it's just a dome light. Whatever looks best works for me! lol

As for the blasting, I'm personally for *some* form of blasting as opposed to a clear lense in which you see the bulb. While that would look fine, too, I think a white/translucent lense would look sweet. Too bad you couldn't get ahold of some kind of white translucent acrylic... then you wouldn't have had to blast anything. That being said, if it can be a clean white over the brownish/tinted color, that would look the best.

Just my :2cents:

PS... I know I'm in the top 10-20, so just let me know when you need the $$

It's the Limited Edition Reproduction Dome Light! Check back in 2008 when he anodizes them red, and in 2009 when you can order them with special Christmas lenses that shows Santa and his reindeer flying by...

when you are ready to ship them out please let me know along with your preferred payment method.
I think you have something here, i mean that the custom truck and the stock truck owners would fall in love with them.

OK, let's do this, today I worked overtime instead of starting a seven day off period. USPS.com is a pain for figuring shipping so in the AM I'm going to run a bezel assy down to the post office and see what they recommend for shipping cost wise and protection. Since it's such a lite part I hope it can go first class to save some money. I'll pad the shipping a little to cover costs and add any left over to the Fordification donation if that sounds ok.

I need a haircut, need to get some wire for the welders, need to process and cash in some scrap, need to get some 2k primer for the truck and stop by the post office as well. Gonna be a fun morning. For the afternoon I have to move my '55 ferguson and dump the firewod where it's at now, then sharpen all five chainsaws and the spare 20" bar / chain for the MS310 so I can cut Saturday. Oh yeah, get the bezels organized and polished up.

I'm thinking more along 6oz packed and 3-5 dollars. Packing materials aren't a problem, I work for Quad Graphics in a 1.2million square foot plant printing catalogs and newspaper inserts (yeah, I knew where most of the good black friday deals were two weeks in advance). I'll know more in the morning.

Hey Mike, not a pressman, they drive the bus, but a press maintenance mechanic, I repair the bus. We have 11 108" wide web gravure Cerutti presses at this plant, two Man Roland 36" web offsets webs and a Hidelberg web offset web press to work on. The cerutti's are three plus stories tall and over 100 yards long.

I managed to run to the post office this morning and get my hair cut. I even bought another stick of aluminum for the second batch of bezels. The girl at the post office recommended a bubble wrap envelope to ship them in first class mail. I stopped by NAPA to get the high build primer ordered as well, then passed my dogs running loose a couple blocks away from the house so I had to round them back up. Now that I've had a brief nap it's down to the garage to move the tractor and get the wood unloaded and all that other crap. Plus polish the parts.

Yep, stopped for a nap, then moved the junk to relocate the tractor, then moved it, then dumped the wood, then piled the wood up better. Then rode out to Lowes to get some new stones for the dremel to sharpen the chainsaw chains, then ate dinner, then called around to line up tomorrows wood cutting expedition to be told to expect another truck that needs a lift gate cut off, then ran out of energy so tomorrow I need to get up earlier and sharpen the saw chains before going to cut which is a PITA. BTW, I didn't get any bezels polished today, in fact I don't know where the day went and I'm pissed about that.

Just now found this thread, came to it while reading your diesel project build-up. Looks great.

Way at the end of the line, but would like to get added to the list for 1 future dome light.

It's just about that time. Today I polished up the rest of the bezels I have done and even found the sand to blast the lenses. Tomorrow I have to get my little sand blast cabinet out and working again. This evening I trial fit the finished product in my friends '72 F-600 tow truck and it fit remarkably well. The only thing that wasn't spot on was the holes for the screws. I sized them for #8 screws and the factory truck had #10's in so they fit snug in the holes. The machined recesses in the back made the lamp housing hold the lens snug and still allowed the bezel to sit flush against the painted surface. I'm really happy witht he resulting part. The parts have rain drops on them.

PM's are forthcoming for the first 26 bezels. Price is going to be $25 for one shipped, $47 for two shipped.
