C6 Tranny Questions

Post by 67NC »

I have found a C6 trans for a reasonable price, is this the wright trans for my 67 F100, 4X2 with a300-6cyl? What, if anything do I need to worry about?

Changing the Column is the easiest of my problems, I am more worried about bolting it up and any mods that may be needed to the engine and removing the clutch??? Please advise.. Is there a tutorial on how to do this?? anywhere?? Thanks for any help.

Check your bolt pattern. I think the auto transmission for the I6 is usually the C4. And from the sounds of it a C6 with the small block bolt pattern isn't all that common.

They are common enough, alot of late model trucks had them. Even the 300 I6 had them sometimes.

the hardest part will be finding a good front section of drive shaft.
and removing the pilot bearing out of the end of your crank.

after you do this all you need is a trans cooler some lines, flex plate the aluminum trans spacer and inspection cover. trans mount and a bunch of bolts.

some people insist on a neutral safety switch but its nice with out that way if you truck stalls you can just crank and go in gear. :shh:
