1969 Ranger ACC carpet too long?

Post by BobbyD »

After finally getting the carpet for a high hump floor, which NPD only ask if its a automatic, which if you say only yes, then you get a set for a low tunnel floor by the way. My truck is a 1969 Ranger with a 360 and C-6. Anyway, its too long, as was the low tunnel set. Its stamped for cutouts, and the fuel grommet and seat belt "holes" seem to be right, but theres another 10" or so of carpet after that! Also is way long in the front, but thats easily trimmed, but the back has a sewn border that I really don't want to cut. Any thoughts? NPD part # is F-CA154-001, ACC's is 2253-01. Have I got the right one? I decided to add a few pic's, maybe that will help.

From what I could tell off of the pic it looks like it shouldn't be a problem to just leave it there.

Unless you really don't want it there. then I would suggest taking it to an upholstry shop to see what they can do for you.

Does any one think that this was meant to go under the gas tank is why its long? The factory carpet wasn't like that, but who knows!

You can put it where you wish.

I believe you can simply put it under the tank or take some velcro and put it on the front of the tank and some of it on the back of the carpet and then mate the two on the front of the tank.

The rest of the guys that might have a beter answer don't check in until later.

Might want to check the part # on your carpet. the 73-79 version (I think) is longer but would probably fit. they might have sent you a 73-79 carpet by mistake, or they might just have one style carpet that fits from 65-79?

....or you could go ahead and cut it off and use it to carpet the kick-panel area, so it'll match.
