Looks like it might work. The last pic looks like it might have you in the right position so that draglink is perpendicular to the frame so you don't get bumpsteer.

Hey Crew,
Yeah I think the front position is best. I'll most likely notch the turned up lip, so the box can be mounted a little lower. And for now I think I will skip the cross over, time and money are getting scarce

Are you sure there is enough clearance for that pitman arm when the steering is straight forward and if you go with a larger (wider) tire?

Well Crew,

Your right I can't make a full lock right turn w/o tire hitting drag link, doing left side linkage. cross over is the way to go

Do you plan on a lift? Like you've probably seen I have a 4in llift and with that I still have bottomed out and bent a pitman arm and also bent my crossover draglink. I have a beefier pitman arm now and have hit it but it hasn't budged but with the crossover you have to make sure you have plenty of clearance and I my self think that 4in is the minimum. Like I might have told you B4 I can get you a 2wd ford box to do the conversion I have done from one of my locak junkyards for around 95 bucks plus shipping. Just another option. There is a 78-79 4x4 box out there last time I was there also 95 bucks. :2cents:

Thanks Crew I already have a 2by box and will be swapping the racks out.
For now I am only going to run the drag link between the frame and spring. I would like more clearance and may need to lift the truck some. I am considering lowering the snubbers w/ some stout box tubing to limit damage.
I read your post "flying camper special" camper and all.
I have a couple more pics of my progress.

update, I sent the right hand knuckle to Parts Mike in Auburn Ca, to be machined for steering arm. I also bought the arm and hardware to install, and BJ's for both sides. Cost wasn't bad 285.00 for all including shipping.
Now for the bad part, I left the spindle studs in the knuckle, I know < dumb ass> but I figure this is their bread and butter and they should be aware of the studs, well I got 1 out 5 back. Since Ford used a 7/16 2" stud instead of 3/8 1 3/4" like Dodge and Chevy. Their tiring to find me some. So I'm waiting
to finish the front axle.
The Boy and I did get engine back in it, after he cleans up the support some and paints it we'll get the rad in.
Also I went down to Pomona Gear, He has d44 open knuckle that can be had for $900.00, Is the same axle I used in our 67. PM me if interested.

Parts Mike got me all the studs I needed to assemble the right hand knuckle.
I popped new BJ's into the left and put them on the axle housing.
Here's a look.

update, have ordered Skyjacker 4" lift kit, front and rear springs, that should give me the space needed to turn and bounce w/o damaging the drag link or pit man. Now I'll need to get bigger tire lol it never ends.
