lowering 68 swb

Post by kool patina »

Been wanting to lower my 68 swb for some time. I recently have read that DJM Dream Beams are JUNK! Was told to look for 93-93 Lightning beams, that they were factory lowered beams and I was told today that the beams are the same on any 93-95 1/2 ton , just the Lightning had used lowering springs and shocks. Could I install factory 93-95 stock beams and torsion bars, with disc brakes on my 68, and look for a good after market lowering spring and shock, and I know I will have to probably have the stock beams hydraulically bent to correct camber settings. Who make a good lowering spring, and what is the drop on it? I thought if I could not install 93-95 factory beams with disc brakes on my 68, I would re-bush king pins and locate after market lowering springs and shocks , bend my stock beams to correct camber...would like to get rid of the king pins and drum brakes. Anyone ever do this? Thanks!

Don't believe everything you read. The internet is notorious for misinformation. But it sounds like you did alot of research so go for it.

Many a Fordification members have used DJMs with little to no issues. What is "JUNK" refer to? It was probably an idiot behind the wrench.

Try airbagit they also make lowered beams, and they are not tube welded together as you say about djm beams but fabricated I beams.
