pops old truck, 67 update. warning pics

Post by A_G »

ok i just now got around to do this. Im doing an update on my dads first car, 67 f250 (his whole life he thought it was a 68

anywyas. It sat 15 years. Its 40 years old this year.
So about a month ago. I started on it. INch worth of rat crap in the interior. a gas tank full of sludge. Dirt dobber nests everywhere.

Upon first inspection. it had good oil, alright looking rad fluid. And that was it.
I filled the cylinders with resolne and MM oil. It turned over by hand. I tried it with the starter but i burned up the jumper cables. I got a carb sent to me bay NIKON4u on this site. Thanks bud.

Ive replaced and gapped the plugs, Plug wires, got the tranny linkages working right.

I had an old chevy my grandma had given me, it sat for probably 15 years on the farm. the mice thought it would be a nice place to shack up. And it was. There was so much urine and poop that it was shot. the pee had actually rusted the dash in spots so bad it was nasty.

Dont hit your head on that hood latch. Get some penetrating oil on those front bumper bolts. Its gotta go. Hows the rat smell, are you going to have to strip out the seat and floor mats to get rid of it? Hooooeew.... hate that. Looks like it'll be a good truck. And 67's are the best year

I would strip that baby clean on the inside...then clean it out real good. Them rats/ mice have a distinct smell that is not considered to be pleasurable.

I am glad your working on it. DO not be discouraged. It may take a while, may have some set backs, but if you keep with it it will run and drive and bring many a smile form you.

Good luck man! Keep it up and keep posting pictures!

Nice job! I like to hear stories about saving an old junk out of a field. Always a happy ending. Once you get it running you won't have to work on it in the field any more. Keep up the good work.

LOL its not the hood latch. Im 6 3 and i hit my head on the hood. The doors dont stay open. LIke they should open then lock in place. And i forgot about this. And went to get out. Suprised my head ditn go through the window.

It actually doesnt smell like rats. But it smells like rusty parts. You know how rust smells. Thats how ti smells. that an old gas.

theskytoucher...6'7"...I get it.

I'm only 6'1"....and I hit my head on these babies, so I know you two fellars are hurting more than I.

A_G...Keep us updated on your progress man. I am living vicariously through you guys until I get back to the States in June and get my truck. So, help a brother out and keep the posts coming.

Hint...I enjoy even little tidbits of information. I learn something about these old trucks daily it seems.

Thanks for the pics man!

yea i meant it that way. Not in a negative way.

No, thank you! for serving our country.

I guess theres just somethings that you say in real life. That dont sound right when you put it ont he internet unless its Very correct english and grammar. Which im not fond of paying attention to.
So no offense, i am thanking him. In my head i just cant figure out a way to post it with out it looking wrong.

I took no offense...cause I for one know exactly how it is to speak one way and then have to write properly for folks to understand.

If I wrote the way I speak, I would be labeled as illiterate...my english teacher in high school (long, long time ago) used to tell me that listening to me speak and butcher the english language was just pitiful...but to read what I had written was pure joy. I took it as her saying I could write well. So, no worries.

On ocassion I revert to writing as I speak...but you'll know for sure.
