I used the straight type off an F250 for my conversion. Then I went so far as to move the mounting point on the brake peddle AND shorten up the rod as far as it would go to get my peddle as low as I could.
Now I just have to rotate my foot to go from gas to brakes. I have a bad back and sometimes when it is really on the outs I can hardly lift my feet. This helps a lot.
