I know, but I had trouble registering for this site and needed help pretty quick. I had to have my registration manually done.
Here's the problem:

Rod going from new brake booster is not long enough to reach brake pedal arm. I have the bracket that the booster uses to mount to the firewall. I removed the link thing off the end of the donor booster, but it how does it attach to the brake pedal arm?

Stock master cylinder:

Booster off of donor truck. It's shot and unusable:

I think that piece from the old one has to go on the new one. But I've never messed with these parts so I could be wrong.
Don't post links from here to there. You will get in trouble.

You're not just missing the mounting brackets, you're also missing some of the cantilever linkage. Here's what it should look like complete:

There are two different style boosters, lever type on the left and straight rod on the right, both have their unique mounting bracket. On the lever type, the bracket contains the lever mechanism.

Thanks to your guys pics, I dug around and have put the booster/bracket together. I went back and got the new booster I took back. The only piece I'm missing is the flat bar, and I think I can get it from the same truck at the junkyard I got the mounting bracket. But does the different boosters you have in the pic have different mounting holes/locations on the brake pedal arm?

The flat bar lever style booster was out of a dentside, the straight rod style came out of a bumpside. There is a difference in length between the straight rod and the flat bar, if I recall it wasn't much like 3/8" or so. The dentside is the shorter one which lowers the brake pedal.

That was one of the changes with the dentside, they lowered the free standing height of the brake pedal.

Probably a good thing. It does seem like a big move from the gas to the brake, at least on my truck.

Yep, the lower brake pedal was by factory design...they intended it to be lower. It's even mentioned in the factory brochures. Here's a scan from the '73 brochure:

When I converted to front disk brakes I had a booster with the rod and it was adjustable for length. I was able to shorten it to its shortest length and it lowered the pedal quite a bit. Then I had to extend the stop light switch bumper enough to make up the difference. My master Cylinder and booster were from MP brakes and were Corvette style. everything works great and the pedal is comfortable in height and no major changes. As for the spring, mine had a coil spring slipped onto the end of the booster shaft to return the pedal. There are some pictures in my album and I can post others if needed.

I think I'm heading back to the junkyard today, will the bar fit my brake pedal assy? Or do I need to get the brake pedal assy also? The brake pedal assy looks like a PITA to get out, is it?

Or.....why couldn't I just get a piece of flat metal from Home Depot and make my own? Can someone tell me the width and length of the bar?

Thanks
