WEBMASTER'S NOTE: The following is an ongoing project
by Wes Adams to build a "Poor Man's 427", using a Ford FT 330 block
and other 'cast-off' parts. The posts were saved from the FordFE.com forums
and reposted here with Wes' permission.

Here is
my Uncle putting in the green Loctite around the lip.
There
are two reasons we're putting red Loctite on the sleeve before it goes in:
1) It helps with installing the sleeve (acts as a
lube)
2) It'll help seal/hold in the sleeve.
Now mind you there
is a .003" press on the sleeve!
Here is
my Uncle driving in the sleeves after we put Loctite on them for lube besides the holding/ sealing factor.
This is
what it looks like so far with the sleeves in the hole.
I will show you guys on what is next for
this beast! But I will save that for next issue of The Poor Mans
427! I hope you got a kick out of it.
Sleeves are about $160 for
a set of 8
We
didn't freeze the sleeves prior to install. Everything is at
room temp when all the work gets done to it. The Loctite
isn't the only thing keeping them in. The block is bored out
to 4.500" (at the deck and floor) and the outer part of the
sleeve is 4.503", which is a .003" press fit. We used Loctite for sealing purposes and a lube for the sleeve.
We are doing this for our sake. Its a very tight fit as
you can see. We won't weld the top in at all. The side load
of a cylinder is what we are concerned with on something like
this...not so much of the up and down. Remember there is going
to be some hard block set on the bottom of the floor to help
out!
