Webmaster's Note:
When I scan a brochure page, I scan it very large so I can go
through and touch it up and enhance it, and then I shrink it
down to a more manageable size for posting online. When I was
touching up page 4 of this '68 salesman's brochure, I noticed
something VERY funny! At first I thought it was an optical
illusion, so I looked in the brochure itself, but no, it's
obvious as heck in there too! However, since you can't see it in
the resized image above, I decided to include it here. Obviously
one of the touch-up artists in the Ford camps had a sense of
humor! I'm just surprised nobody caught it before it left the
printers!

In addition to the backward
script, take a look at the ashtray handle. It's depicted here
roughly an inch lower than they actually were....and all the
other ashtray handles in the brochure are also pictured
incorrectly in this lower position.
And if that wasn't enough, take a
look at the position of the driver's-side armrest in this same
picture on Page 4 (top of this page). Notice how it's much
higher and farther back than the armrests in the other pictures?
In addition to this mistake, all the trucks pictured in this
brochure appear to have the inside rearview mirror mounted to
the windshield frame, which is a '67-only feature. All '68
trucks actually had mirrors which were glued to the windshield.

Somebody must have noticed the
backwards 'R' in the instrument panel bezel in the first
printing of this brochure, so later in the year the factory
re-released this brochure with the 'R' turned around correctly.
All the inside pages of the second printing were identical with
the first version, but the front and rear covers were changed,
as shown below. However, this reprint was not dated on the back
cover, which normally was standard procedure. |
