Tank selector question.

Post by cougswan »

I have a 1970 F250 camper special with a tank in the cab and an aux one under the bed. Which direction is which tank on the selector? This photo is taken outside of the driver side door. I can't rotate it any further counter clockwise so it won't ever directly point at Main. It can be rotated clockwise to about 180 degrees from where it is in the photo.

You should be able to point it to Main or AUX or Off, the manual selector valve may be gummed up and too tight to turn it properly. You may need to remove the gas lines from it and try some oil or penetrating oil on it and work it back and forth a number of times to get it to loosen up. The one for my truck was very tight as well, but I was able to get it working properly. Not sure if trying it from the top would work, but you might try that first.
Mine was already out of the truck when I was abel to get it loosened up. Main on the selector would be for the tank behind the bench seat, and AUX would be for the one below the truck by the frame.
