going for a not great c4 install to 4 speed on floor

Post by hillcountryflt »

Guys, been a while on this forum. My truck has been sitting at a body shop for a prolonged stay and plan to get it back soon.
I converted it from a three on the tree to a c4. The c4 came from a montego and never got it where I liked it, so I went with an iddit cable-based shifting setup (installation has not been completed).
My question, could I "easily" go to a 4 on the floor? I have a straight six, which I like. Don't have my old transmission or steering column. But thinking I could do a functional install with a floor shifter and keeping my existing steering column (or finding another or an iddit column).
Your thoughts?

Realized after posting, I had not even considered installing the clutch and clutch pedals - all pieces I no longer have.

The clutch and brake pedal assembly change/replacement is pretty much straight forward.
The hardest part I believe for you to do it will be to source the Z-bar and associated rods, (I had those I'd pulled years ago and sold).
Get a "wanted parts" ad here quick and maybe expect to take some time to find all the little parts for the linkage.
