67 F100 named Fred

Post by cumminskiller »

Hey guys I figured I would start a thread on my project. This will be a slow moving project. I picked the truck up on MLK day (Jan 18) and have started to make a little progress.
I'm horrible at remembering to take pictures so, I'll do my best though. Plans as of now is start the bodywork. I pulled the 351W from my last project that I built that only has 2500 miles on it and will be slapping it in. It already been lowered. The front disc brake conversion was started and I'll have to finish it up. I'm not sure on color yet but luckily I don't have to decide just yet.
I'm still in the tear down stage. Once I get off the 7 days week work schedule I'll continue with that. I will also get the brakes figured out while doing that. I know everyone likes pictures so here's a few random pictures I've taken:

Truck had a 400 and a C6 in when I got it. It's now going to somebody else's project.

Cool! If the engine runs half as good as it looks, it should be awesome!

It was awesome in my Cougar and surprisingly there isn't much weight difference between that and the F100. Never dyno'd it but according to the guy I had design the setup it should be close to 400 horse.

When I first saw your engine picture, my first thought was: this is a cougar hood in the background :D

Do you still own the cougar? looks like a 67/68 hood...I have a 68 cougar too 8) it has a 302 but I´ve got a 351w waiting to be build for performance

Very good looking engine!

Cheers from germany

I actually wondered if you truck guys would notice the hood. I don't own it anymore, unfortunately it was too far gone for me when I started into the body. We'll just say I now know how to buy a car over the internet. It was a 68 Dan Gurney Special. Thank you for your comment.

I totally understand what you´re saying! I ran into the same story, bought the cougar over the internet and had to deal with loads of bad surprises when it arrived in germany. But I ended up fixing it, was a journey of 2 years and loads of money...

hope your actual project is on the right track and I wish that there are no to bad suprises..

Made some progress over the weekend. Got the rest of the cab stripped down. Started on figuring the brakes out. Installed new shoes, wheel cylinders, springs and I needed 1 new drum. Rear is now ready for plumbing. Test fit the new booster to ensure all holes worked before I start any body work.
