Carburetor flooding issues

Hello Everybody, my Autolite 2100 keeps flooding when the truck is sitting. The engine is completely cold, and it only floods in the mid day sun. I have rebuilt most of the carburetor but have not replaced the needle and float, both seem like they are in good shape. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thank you.

two things I can think of to check.

pull out the needle and check for debris and check its action, make sure its smooth and not binding or sticking.

recheck the float level rise and drop to make sure they are in spec.

I had an issue similar to this - make sure you have the correct vented gas cap. I had this problem on hot days - the tank would build up pressure and it would flood and I even had quit running on a 4 lane highway at 60 mph once before I figured out what was going on. It's hard to find the correct cap nowadays if it needed a vented cap so what did with mine was pulled the plastic center piece out of the one I had and haven't had a problem since.....best way to check it it's got pressure on the tank is to park it out in the sun on a warm day and after a while to take the gas cap loose - if it's got pressure on it you'll know when you turn it because it will release and you'll hear it!

Thanks, guys. I will check those. I did get a new gas cap and it does build up pressure in the sun. I also need to replace the needle. Any ideas of where I can find the correct gas cap?

Is your truck an F100 or a F250? There were vented and non vented gas caps. The F100 had an evaporated system so it makes a difference on which type of gas cap you need. Let us know.

It is a 1970 ford f100(Styleside).

Here is a link to the in cab gas tank for a 1970 that has the evap system, and a link to gas caps for NPD, there are vented and non vented here, you just need to click on the application tab and find the ones that will work on your 1970 F100 with the evap system.

Thanks a lot. Issue solved. I really struggled with that one for a while. Got a vented gas cap and no more flooding!
