Alright, so I picked up this 72 f100 4x4. It has the np435 in it, but someone swapped in a Dana 24 transfer case. Divorced. I kind of want to go back to just a simple Dana 21.
I have read that their is a 2wd 435 and 4wd 435. How can I tell?

It's been awhile and my memory is a little fuzzy but I believe all the 2wd 435s have a bolt on yoke.
Your divorced set should be the same .
the ones married to a 203 /205 will have a gear showing when seperated.
the one made to mate to a Dana 21 IS a 2wd trans,without a tail housing , and a adapter gear that bolts on where the yoke would go.
