Signal wireing? Ground?

Post by Mcyoung4 »

Hi everyone I’ve got a 70 f100 6 Spot custom
My signal lights the right works fine but the left don’t. There is a very dim light there. Is this a ground issue? Now is it not grounded with every bolt that goes through one metal to the next?
Also my dash lights do not work and the alt gauge goes wild on left flash signal.
So I guess my question is.... is everything grounded?

Thanks in advance.

There are multiple grounds on your lighting circuits. The signal/parking lights all ground via the bulb socket and the housings. To start with, remove your tail light housings and clean the mounting surfaces, screw holes, screws and bulb sockets. Pay close attention to the dimples in the bulb sockets. Use some steel wool wrapped around the tip of a screwdriver or wooden dowel/pencil to clean those out thoroughly. Do your side marker lights while you're at it. The instrument cluster is also grounded via the mounting screws and there is also a ground wire visible in this diagram. http://www.fordification.com/tech/image ... l_7072.jpg Make sure those grounding points are cleaned thoroughly. Go ahead and do the front signal housings while you're at it. The front housings also have a ground wire in addition to the sockets and screws. You can see them on the left side of this diagram. http://www.fordification.com/tech/wirin ... master.jpg
