Hello, I have been looking at this site a long time and it's great to see people with so much knowledge and passion about these old fords. I had a 67 shortbed in high school and a 78 step side with a seriously hopped up 302. Loved both those trucks - that was 35 years ago and both trucks long gone. 15 years ago I decided I wanted another bumpside, which are my favorites. Found a shortbed 69 ranger, about 2 hours away for $1500. Bought it and fired it up and drove it home 65mph no problem! Used it here on the farm and decided to fix it up a bit.Put 4 new tires, brakes, radiator, headers, carb. Saved up for paint and body work and took it to a body/paint man, he had it six months and did a good job. Not show quality, but good. Got it back home to the farm and really enjoyed it! That was August 2012.Then along came hurricane Sandy. I live on a dead end peninsula ,surrounded by water, but it was only a Cat 1 hurricane and I have weathered a bunch if them with no problem.LONG story short, once I realized the water was coming up too fast to leave, I drove the old ford to the highest spot on the farm, which is out in the field and the last thing I could see in the 90mph wind and rain, was the truck completely surrounded by tidewater and waves starting to break on it! Not a good feeling! Two days later, expecting the worst,no water got inside, dipstick oil good.Fired er up and drove it back home. Time to fix it up again. Black shortbed, mid year 69,302, 3 on tree. All orig according to VIN. Sorry for the novel. Would post pics, but I'll never figure that out!
