Uhhhh...shouldn't there be teeth there? And I didn't know they made 2 pc synchros.

Poor 2nd gear. Looks like someone didn't know how to shift.

I ended up pulling a transmission out of another truck I have. Worked great and I'm back on the road. Now I need to replace the one I removed. Anybody got a decent 3 speed for sale in or around Gaston county NC?
And yes it made a lot of racket and no, it nothing to do with my shifting ability. The oil in it was pure chocalote milk. I'm not sure where all of the water got in but it did.
I bought this transmission out of a junk yard for $50 in 1998 and ran it every day since. I think I got my money out of it.

Brings back a memoir from my college days. Seems mine didn't care for the down-shift at about60 MPH and it gave up three consecutive teeth. 
Dad was not as impressed as I was. Got one out of a 78' that worked but the gears were about an 1/8th inch wider preventing the drive shaft from fitting. After two days I convinced dad to shorten the slip yolk by 1/2" and been that way for years.
