Tightening up sun visor

Post by Ohiotinkerer »

Got a sun visor that falls down whenever I hit a bump - is there a way of adjusting them so they stay in place? One problem I've never ran into in all my 54 years.......... :help:

Are the rubber tips in good shape? If not you can order them from places like Mac's, NPD or Dennis Carpenter. On my 1972's visors I was able to pull them out on the chrome shafts a little, not sure if this is the case on the 1968 visors. Another thing is the plastic piece that is screwed in the center for the rubber tips to fit in, in good shape? These can also be bought new. Let us know what works for you.

I wish I had one here to look at, (had a spare pair and sold them)... :(
Isn't there a spring up under the pivot bracket, (on the side closest to the door where it actually mounts to the cab) guys?
If memory serves me right there is and it could be worn out letting it bounce around?
Was surprised there is no data, (images) on the difference in the visors here as I do believe they change from early bump to the 70'-72' also?
I also want to say that Jamie, (Ranchero50) was making an awesome replacement for the center pivot where both visors rubber tipped ends "latch" into. :hmm:

Here's a quick goggle image:

There are some pictures of the different visors. You need to go to the Technical Articles and Tutorials Index on the Fordification website. There are pictures of the different visors on the first page of the "Identifying 1967-1972 Ford Pickups".
