cigar lighter light

Post by dtcohen »

Hi All,

My truck has the nifty little light that clips onto the cigar lighter. Unfortunately I cannot figure out how it clips to the cigar lighter. If anyone has a picture of how this setup goes together I would really appreciate it.

Thanks,
DC

Gotta be aftermarket as I'd never seen one on the bumps in all these years? :hmm:
I have an obsolete OEM Ford glove box light here. It has a metal housing and clips into the "cardboard" glove box-but...even it was from the dent era, (but will fit into our bump glove box.
Got a pic of this light-as i think it a pretty kool idea.

AIt is a factory piece. Maybe it was optional? It is on the 1968 wiring diagrams. There is even a part number. C3TB-15072-A lamp assy. It looks like the light is supposed to clip into some slots on the outer portion of the cigar lighter. I think my cigar lighter has been replaced with one that did not have the slots. A drill bit and some work with a die grinder and I now have the slot to clip the light to. Here is a picture (not mine) of the light clipped to the cigar lighter.

Its probably a factory thing as it's just a aux light so you can see where to put the lighter back into when it's dark in the truck. Not going to say it wasn't an option on your truck but it was for sure an option later on as I've seen them before on newer cars when they still had cig lighters in them.
