Ignition switch diagnosis

Post by crozetiga »

Ok so drove my truck about 3 miles the other day and walked around a the city park, then I got back in my truck and it wouldnt crank over. It would hit but would not turn over. I check the battery connection, it was fine. I fiddled around with the ignition switch and it seemed really loose inside the tumbler. Sometimes it would try to turn over but wouldn't and sometimes there was nothing when I turned the key. Was about ready to push my truck up a hill when I decided to flip the key over. It turned over with no problem and started right up.

Does this mean my tumbler is worn out? The key is also pretty worn. Could I fix the problem with the tumbler and 2 keys from Dennis Carpenter. The model number is C9AZ-11582-A.

Any input would be great.

its probably not the tumbler but the switch itself.
