Dome light

Post by indy358 »

Ok guys, here is a good one.
I have been trying to get all of my lights working and have had a heck of a time with the dome light. I think the problem is with the switch but I have tried three of them. The switch in my 67, one from a 70, and a brand new one from NAPA. None of them have power to the pole that is supposed to be for the dome light. I have tested the switches with a direct hot wire to the input pole. Everything works except for the dome light. I would like to have the switch work like it is supposed to but I am going bonkers trying to figure it out.
Any help?

If you have power to the switch and nothing across the switch when it should be, then the switch is bad... wether it's new or not. Unfortunately in this day and age, we're getting more and more things right out of the box that aren't any good.

Thanks,
My NAPA store said to bring it back and they would either refund the money or get me a new one. I think I am going to have them replace it. Maybe one of these days I will get a good one.
I just find it strange that all three are bad... Oh well :?

What John said, "in this day and age"...

Quality Control is falling by the wayside in place of faster production and higher profits. Sounds like a whole run of those switches made it out the door of the mfg plant like that.

I work in a factory and can tell you that sometimes things do get shipped that are not any good. More and more workers just don't care.........
