Hacked up harness...70 on a 67?

Post by indy358 »

My 67 F-100 seems to have many parts from a 70-72. Is there any difference in the wiring harness for those years? Especially with the headlight switch. I have a black and yellow wire coming out of the switch that is not attached anywhere. It only has power when the switch is in the park light position. According to the wiring diagram for a 67 this would be the parking light wire. Are the parking lights supposed to go out when the headlights come on? I am having a heck of a time trying to get this wiring right. It was really buggered by the previous owners.

My understanding is that some of the wire colors changed throughout the model years. If you haven't already, try this link http://www.fordification.com/wiring.htm .

I have all the diagrams printed out and the wir colors are correct, but someone has spliced in a new harness. I am just trying to correct their mistakes. Thanks, though

As far as I know the lights are not a option on the Shelby. It will have the round fog lights in the bottom of the front valence, just like all of the other Cobras. I wish it had them in the grill, like the 67 Shelbys did. I think they look great like that, but SVT wants to keep with tradition.
I am hoping it will be black with silver stripes. That is the color I requested, but with them being so limited I don't know what I will end up with.
Unless something changes in the next few weeks there will be no options on the Shelbys. They will just come loaded to the gills. That is how my 94 was. I didn't get to specify anything. I just had to take what Ford sent.

Welcome to the world of the "F" series. What you describe is fairly
common. Mix and match. Good luck, K.P :)

i was reading an article a while back about them and there were suppose to be three different ways they could be gotten and the price reflected the more you got. i think the article said something like cobra was one price the shelby cobra was another price and the roush? was another price but it seemed way high dollar for the most should i say equipped. i try to find the article later when my wife gets home.

The Shelby is the Cobra now. There are only 2 V-8 Mustangs from Ford. The GT & the Shelby. The Rousch cars are made independant of Ford but some dealerships sell them and I think Ford honors the warranty on their parts.

I had the same problem. I remedied it with a Painless Wiring Harness.
