HELP! 71 F250 4x4 4spd column into 76 F250 4x4 formally auto

Post by FordPickup460 »

Im doing a C6 to Np435 swap in my 76 F250 4x4. I traded my automatic steering column for a manual tranny steering column out of a 71 F250 4x4. Im trying to install the column now, but the column's shaft is going all the way into the coupler on the end of the steering shaft, and the column still isnt through the hole in the floor and its about 4" away from the bolt holes lining up under the dash. Do I need to swap the column shafts back with my 76's shaft? Thats the only thing I can think of, that the 71 had a longer shaft. :?

57 F100 4x2 351w/C4/9" 3.70
I will have a 67-72 someday, I promise.

Well we got it figured out. The 71's shaft inside the column is 3 1/2" longer than the one for my 76. Were swapping them back thursday. Thanks!
