1994-present Mustang wheels have a 5-on-4.5" lug pattern. The bumpside F-100 wheel pattern is 5-on-5.5". Too big for the Mustang wheels to bolt up.

You could use wheel adapters to go from the larger wheel pattern to the smaller pattern.

Other than this, you would have to swap to a Mustang II type front end or install a 2003-2011 Crown Victoria front suspension to get the needed 5-on-4.5" lug pattern.

In the rear, you could; install a 9-inch rear end assembly from a 1980-1983 Ford F-100 which has the 5-on-4.5" lug pattern or, swap in a solid axle 8.8" rear end assembly (like from a Crown Vic, or possibly from an Explorer) or, swap in an IRS 8.8" rear end assembly from an '89-mid '90s Thunderbird/Cougar XR-7 or an IRS from a '93-'98 Lincoln Mk VIII.

The IRS from the Tbirds and Mark VIII's are 5 on 4.25 bolt pattern. You can convert them to 5 on 4.5 using Cobra IRS hubs. Unless you plan to make the Crown Vic swap, I would try to find another style of wheel that I liked. I wonder how well the wheel adapters would hold up to real truck use?

Yeah, I had forgotten the T-Bird/Mk VIII IRS hubs have the 5-on-4.25" lug pattern. Aside from installing '99-'04 Cobra 4.5" IRS hubs, the T-Bird/Mk VIII hubs and rotors can be redrilled for the 4.5" pattern.

In reference to the wheel adapters, I've never used any but they are very common in early Mustang circles where people are running 13" front and 11-5/8" rear Cobra brakes with 17" later model Mustang wheels. Many of these cars are used hard in open track events that puts a lot of stress and strain on these components. Obviously, an early Mustang is lighter than an F-100 but the biggest of the early Mustangs, the '71-'73 models, aren't too far behind a short bed F-100 in regards to weight.

What about redrilling or swapping drums?
If it's not broke, MOD IT!

I am currently redrilling and machining the stock drum hubs and rear axles. I redrilled the rear axles and used bahr brake 9 inch caliper brackets. For the front I machined down the outer diameter of the hub and redrilled the bolt pattern. Also machined the disc centre larger to clear the larger hub. Then ill fab up some front brackets. Im using a 5x4.75 bolt pattern as it worked best with the/space I have to work with. Plus lots of wheel choices with chev bolt pattern. I'll post Picts when done. John
