Pics of 255/85/16 tires

Post by Sheepdog »

I'm going to need new tires soon and would love to see some pics of bumps running 255/85/16 tires. I'm also interested in pics of 235/85/16's if you've got them. The 69' highboy I just bought is running military 36x12.5's but that's bigger than I want and I love the tall/skinny approach. Thanks in advance - I'm loving all the great knowledge and info on this site

Thanks, sodbreaker. I love a bump that gets used. I also always thought those later model ford alloys would look pretty decent on an old high boy

I really like the way those fill the fenders. Think I'd run into clearance problems on my 2wd F100?

Hey Sargent. I ran 32 11.50 15 on my 72 f100 on stock ford wheels. they never rubbed however the 255's kinda come out about 33.5 34 inches tall so I would say that it would be a rubbing issue. Even though they are narrow tires probably gonna still rub. However a little lift always looks good!!!

Thanks! I'm running 265/75-15's now and probably going to go with a new 17" wheel. Good to know up to 32 x 11.5 doesn't scrub.

these are Goodyear wrangler slient armor LT235 / 85 R16
the truck has factory overload springs so it looks a little higher in the rear
they drive really nice, but not the most aggressive tread available
