Started the rebuild of my steering column today. Found two issue's. Threads stripped out on steering shaft were steering wheel bolts on to it. To bad the shaft looks new otherwise. Next the lower bearing looks bent "See Picture" Don't know if its supposed to look like that or not. I'm thinking not though any help. Also looks like the column is bent not the bearing. I actually could see this before I removed the column. With all the grease it looked like a seal coming out. The truck was converted to power steering by my Dad. I have a complete column coming I bought on
Ebay. I'm hoping its the right one power steering automatic looks nice but that can be deceiving.

Re: Steering Column Problem's
That area should be straight like the end of the column. It could probably be tapped back level though. Don't know if the threads on that steering shaft could be recut but it'd be worth a try if the shaft itself is in good shape. They're hard to find.

Re: Steering Column Problem's
I fairly sure I know why the bearing is bent like that now. My dad probably took this column out of a fairly rusted truck and the cab fell over the mounts causing pressure on the column.
