72 Sport Custom Finished

Post by AZHobie »

Just finished my 72 F100. Replaced floor pans, radiator core support, drivers door and fender. Rebuilt the carb and tune-up. Replaced front windshield, rubber seals, anti-rattlers, all rubber seals as well as new side trim, new steering wheel and instrument cluster clear panel. Added new carpet and seat upholstery, insulation all the way up behind the fuel tank. I changed out original vinyl door panels for some steel ones I found on ebay and painted to match. Also replaced cab mount rubber and bed bolts. That was a tough job. Underneath was pretty clean so since this is a daily driver I left it alone. Everything else just needed alot of sweat equity. Painted in the Seapine Green and Wimbledon White. Also called Med Metallic Green or Saphire Green. This was the original factory color. Truck has 360 automatic, power steering, brakes and factory air conditioner which works and was converted to R-134. I also removed the original Tecumseh compressor isolation valves during the process. Have a new power steering pump to install soon as well as to figure out the brake warning light problem. Installed a bulb and it lights up. I will check the H block and sensor and bleed the brakes to see if this solves the problem. Engine and transmission was rebuilt at 92K miles in 1992 which was about 15K since. Compression was pretty solid at 130 psi accross all eight cylinders. If the engine craps out, I will rebuild to a 390 4 barrel with cam. Original single exhaust which I think I may keep. Kind of nice to have a quiet ride. I sure like these old trucks and the restoration provided some badly needed mental restoration as well.

That truck turned out great. I am not a fan of green, but with the white it works. I'm digging it!!

i'm impressed!!  Is that boxwood green? If so, i'm glad to see it because that is the color my truck is suppose to be. I am a long way from from getting to the paint stage though :( Love the color. Sorry, went back and read your post. I see the color of green. Still a very nice color!

Thanks for all the good comments. Obviously I am an amatuer and completed all the work except spraying the paint and welding. Truck was relatively solid to start with.
