Devorced D24 transfer case brace.

Post by heep70 »

Does anyone have the brace that attaches off the bottom of their T-case to the frame? I need some pics if possible. Thanks
Greg

I am looking for the brace (rod) that is attached to the bottom of the T-case to the truck frame. It keeps the T-case from swing back and forth under torque.

They may not be stock for your years of Fords. I know they came on 73 F250s.

One day... I'll make a bracket as well to help keep that D24 from floppin. I think it'll help prevent the t-case from poppin into neutral

Greg,
The thought has crossed my mind before. What about welding a piece of steel to the plate on the bottom of the case with a hole in it, then use a heavy piece of rod that's threaded on each end. Make a similar mount up on a cross-member then use a couple of hard rubber or poly bushings at the mounting points?

That was my thought also. I was thinking of using DOM tube, weld eyes or brackets on the ends of the tube. Then mount it using a poly bushing on one end and mount the other end solid.

If you have any spare ring mount shock bushings laying around, those would be perfect. I have used a similar system to control a 205 in a later model truck, but I wouldn't waste good DOM on it. I used 1" sch. 40, welded a bracket on the frame, and there was a bolt on the t-case I went from, for a bar about 14" long.

Greg the brace is for the divorced 205 If you like I can take some pics of it. looks like all you'd have to do that would really take any effort is to make a template of the cover on the case all the way to the left for the brace to bolt to. I'll get some pics on here.
