Re: yellow wire green stripe
ive followed this diagram wire for wire. my truck is a 69 with 4 gauges. i did away with the regulator harness and tapped into the plug going to solenoid, ive got power at solenoid positive side but nothing going out. the reason i ask about this yellow wire green stripe is its part of the connector from regulator to solenoid but it was hanging loose on regulator side. po has been into this before. i hooked original alt. and harness back up and voila power and lights. are headlights part of this wireing ?

Re: yellow wire green stripe
here is the 69 full gauge diagram. http://www.fordification.com/tech/wirin ... gauges.jpg i do not see a yellow with green strip wire in this diagram. but that doent mean anything. some harnesses used different color wires in it. i do not have a 69 harness for the fender here so i cna look at. . can you get a picture of yours so i can tell what it goes to? es the 69 fender harness is all one piece all the way to the headlights.

Re: yellow wire green stripe
fender harness is one peice to headlights. the harness from regulator to solenoid is two piece with 4 wires in each. each end has a plug . they plug in to each other to complete circuit. the color of wires from regulator are as follows- the regulator has 4 terminals A- has 2 solid yellow wires , one has a resistor on the end the other goes into harness. S- has a green with red stripe, F- has a solid orange . The last terminal is I . i assume for ignition. It has no wire coming out of it. Thats a total of 3 wire coming out of regulator not counting the one with resistor. the 4th wire in harness is the yellow with green stripe. its in both ends of harness but not connected to regulator.I cant tell where it goes on solenoid side. im afraid ti stick it in the I terminal for fear of blowing something.

Re: yellow wire green stripe
its in the regulator harness but not connected to regulator. Everything else is good. Alternator puts out a steady 14.4 volts which seems a little high. Not sure.Should i run a ground wire or resistor ? My original alt had a ground wire.

i found out it may be the horn wire look at this diagram. it shows ayellow wire with a green stripe on it going to the horn from the regulator harness. http://www.fordification.com/tech/wirin ... _quick.jpg this had been bugging me and now i found it.

Re: yellow wire green stripe
When wiring a 3g alternator on a truck with 4 gauges you will have to rewire the main power wire (Black/yellow strip) that goes into the cab of the truck to the battery terminal on the starter solenoid, as this wire is now in the original wire harness from the alternator to the Voltage Regulator and when you remove that part of the harness you will not have any connection to the battery = no power to anything on the truck...
