An alternative is the 3 G alternator

The one wire alternator is discussed here also.

Guess I should have added if they have put one on a 6 cyl engine.

If so was there many mods needed?

Two issues you need to consider. First the wiring, that is pretty much the same from the I6 and V8 from the diagrams. Second is installing the alternator, that will depend on the alternator you plan to install and could involve some trial and error and fabrication of brackets.

Not sure of what the amperage is.

It was one I had taken out of a chevy truck with a 350 and I believe it is the standard size.

I was hoping that I could put it in the stock location with a few if any braket mods.
