I searched the server and didn't find the definitive laymen answer that I was looking for, so sorry for the noobie first post.
I am looking for a set of steel wheels for my '72 F250 as I am moving to the East coast and want a dedicated set of rims for snow tires.
What is the bolt pattern I am looking for, I saw these on Craigslist and they looked good but I was thrown by the metric figure on the bolt spacing:
Set of four 8x165 lug pattern, 16.5 inch steel wheels. Tires are NOT road worthy. No bends. more paint than rust, still ugly. Perfectly good wheels. Asking $50.
He referred to them as Dodge wheels, and that they'd fit Chevy's, I understand that the center opening is smaller on Chevy's?
Thanks.

You probably want to pass on the 16.5's, hard to find tires for.

Re: '72 F250 Bolt Pattern
Yes, that is the correct bolt pattern. It is commonly referred to as 8 on 6.5", but 165mm is the same. The main one to watch out for is the later fords (1999+ that uses the 8 on 170 bolt pattern, as those will not work for you). As far as I know, all 8-lug Dodge wheels and some 8-lug Chevy wheels will fit your truck. Also, all Ford 8-lug wheels 1998 and back will fit your truck. Beware that lots of the Chevy wheels have a smaller center hole that will not want to slide over the hubs on your rear axle. That can be machined or ground out if necessary though because it's not a huge difference.
