My new 67 Highboy project

Post by victimofwv »

Well she's here and I must say I am not really thrilled about the condition. The cab is pretty well shot. The bed is fixable, left fender is shot, right is decent. Someone put 73-79 inner fenders and core support in it and didn't do a very good job. The hood is OK but is beat up in the front where it is hard to straighten. Both bumpers are crap, as well as the grille, and the front valance is missing.
The 352 starts and runs, but smokes like Cheech and Chong, plus has a bad lifter rattle.
On the upside:
Frame is solid as a rock. Running gear seems to be good (pulling the covers off the axles tomorrow) trans shifts into all gears and no apparent noise. Transfer case works and shifts into all gears, plus truck has 4 new RS5000 Shocks. Frame and underbody is caked in mud as it seems someone had alot of fun with it.
I have leads on a couple of donor trucks for the body items. I plan to rebuild the 352 if a good 428 or 390 doesen't come along sometime later. I actually want a 428 for my Fairlane and would use that 390 in this truck.
Well it seems I am into another money pit. But isn't this how all projects go?
I will keep you guys posted on the progress...

Parts hunting now. got the 67 bright metal grille on Ebay, along with some misc. dash pieces from a local guy. Looking for a decent cab, inner fenders, core support. found a hood, and another bed just gotta buy those.
These are from a 68 f250. This cab is OK. I was thinking of buying this cab and cutting the 68 dash out and welding in the 67 dash from the highboy. Has anyone else done this?

Scored a donor truck on Ebay

Post by victimofwv »

I now have a complete body. Just got it on Ebay for 430.00 It is in Minnesota and the shipping will be high, but I know a guy who said he'd cut me a deal on getting it here. This truck has most everything I need except an engine. I plan maybe to rebuild my 352 if a 390 doesen't show up sometime later. :D :D

It is in Anouka MN. Yahoo says 218 miles from you. The guy said he'd keep it for me awhile until I arrange transport. With what I am paying for it plus shipping it was still worht it because I can use everything off the truck except the frame. It has a little rust in the usual places, but not near as bad as mine, and the paint even looks usable until I can afford a paint job.

Yeah I'd like one if you could. I know where there is a '63 galaxie that has one in it with the factory 4 barrel intake, but the guy wants to sell the whole car, and I am a little crowded with parts vehicles as it is.

When you meet the guy, ask him what kind of wheels those are. I think they would look good on my truck.

Duh I missed your question. I think LMC Truck sells those wheels but are white instead of black.
