Ford Crews on Ebay

Post by averagef250 »

A 67-79 crew 4x4 in good shape is a very in demand item today. A friend is in the market for one and we looked at this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... &viewitem= in person before it ended.

That truck was not complete junk, but it was 80% junk. I feel sorry for whoever plunked down $15K for it. The paint job is amatuer at best, runs and sanding scratches show all over. The cab roof has severe rust above the gutters hidden under bondo, the metal is clearly rotted through above the back window. The underside of the truck looks like it's never been washed.

I would hope there is some kind of buyer protection from being mislead by the sale. He states "the truck is exceptional." I believe there is a legal definintion for exceptional vehicles, that apparently does not meet. He doesn't mention that it has no rust that I can see, but still it seems misleading to me.

The rust is very well hidden. The owner looked me in the eyes and lied, played dumb that he had no idea why there was an 1/8" layer of bondo around the entire roof rain gutter. He claimed a local shop did the bodywork and sprayed the truck. While looking at the truck he had an F150 4x4 swb single cab behind the crew in the bodywork stage. He was doing all the bodywork himself and had the same materials laying around that were used to paint the crew. Whoever buys that truck is going to be replacing the roof within 5 years.

That would be a shame to spend that much money and not get your monies worth.
There's been quite a few on CL here in Florida lately, I'll try to find a few and post them later.

Thats too bad. 15K is alot of money for one of these old trucks. . . .

Its a sharp truck. Too bad its beauty is only skin deep.

The only thing that would make it supreme, other than fixing the rust/rot issue would be a CTD under the hood. Mmmmm.
