Sacrifice a chicken....

Post by R.Smith »

...to the bump gods for me. This weekend I plan to replace the cam, lifters, timing chain ect, as well as replace the front coil springs, shocks on the bump and attempt a front end alignment. I have the book for the alignment and a buddy says he "has the tool for bending the thing". This should be fun.

It starts....

I called around to get prices on springs. 3 places carried them and gave me roughly the same price...$80. So on the way home I stopped at the first. Sure, they "carried" them but, they had to order them. OK, that will take a couple days BUT...seems the vendor is out of stock. And guess who uses the same vendor? That's right, the other 2.

But thanks to one of you sacrificing a chicken (a reference to voo doo BTW) I called the local spring shop and they have a set that are "a bit" heavier for $100. I looked that measurement up in my Machinery's Handbook and sure enough, right between a "smigin" and a "cockhair" was "bit" so, I'm thinking the installation will go something like this...

"it's almost in, just a cockhair more..." "I know, lets use the thing bender to pry it down a smigin...." "Don't move to the ambulance gets here. You're gonna need a buttload of stitches in your head!"
