Body Seam Welding..

Post by rjmaas »

Has anyone done and or Recommends and or Not Recommends to weld up seams on the bed and cab roof? There are seams on the cab that I think would look great if they were welded up and ground flush, and the seam on the bed which is currently filled with cracking caulk or some other material that needs replacing...

anyone have any thoughts for guidance on this? The outside bed seam looks like it would be tough to clean up and recaulk, and I think would look nice and clean if it were welded up.

I welded my bed seems on both of my 72's with good results. In my opinion it looks much cleaner that way. My long bed it was necessity due to rust, the short bed I did because I liked the look of the longbed!

I was thinking the seam on the front of the hood needs this too.

Does anyone have a picture of doing this to their truck?

Some before/after shots or something?

I have done my hood and cab, and will be doing my bed when I get to that part of the rebuild. There is a picture in my gallery of the front end.

Here is a truck that was featured in Classic Trucks, that as had all seams filled.
