Dash lights

Post by Drednme »

I think that I might have a ground problem, but I figured I would ask here before I tore into it. My dash lights stopped working but my tail lights and my auxilliary gauges that are tapped into the same circuit still work. I can turn the knob and the aux gauges dim like they should and the turn signal indicators still work but the dash lights just aren't there. They worked fine a couple of weeks ago. Do I need to pull out the dash and clean up the grounds?

I would start with that, the dash on these trucks are easy to take out. If that doesnt work break out the test light and see what you get

Just to be sure I'd run a continuity check on the bulbs to make sure they're good. It's possible all but one was already blown and just not noticed until the last one gave out. Then run a continuity check on the wires from where your aftermarket gauges are tied in up through the bulb socket to make sure the circuit is still intact.

Clean the ground terminal of the wire and the area on the truck it attatches to really well.
Corrosion can prevent the electricity fro making a complete circuit.
