I don't really care about brands Chevy Ford Dodge ...as long as it doesn't sound like two old dudes farting in a coffee can.

yes that is a dana 21. its the same as in my 71 f100 4wd. there is or should be a tag under the driveshaft on the bottom side of the case.

ah ok will look for the tag after it gets up here next week. it was so covered in grease i couldn't find it

are they a bad 4x4 case? for the occasional in the snow of muddy road use? from the looks of exploded diagrams they seem pretty simple and should work for what i want...

but i dont know much about them..thanks for the help so far

Yep, 21. The 21's were used through 1975 in F100 4x4's.

IMO, they're bad, but for DD type rig with a stock engine they'd be fine if taken care of.

thanks Dustin that is what i was wondering ... The truck like i stated wont be used as a offroad all the time vehicle i basically want to get around throw snow in town and dads muddy dirt road.
Since the city here loves to plow all of the snow on the road into my driveway and alley.
As far as maintaining it does that mean not abusing it and making sure it has oil in it every so often?
and i also have heard tale of people swamping in a dana 20?? from a bronco.

Maybe Some day down the road when i can afford it i will try to swap in a 205
