Blasting Cabinet Media

Post by 71PA_Highboy »

All,

I built myself a media blaster (TP Tools Master Kit with foot pedal), and got some 30-40 grit glass beads, and while it does EXACTY what it is supposed to do, I know the media is not aggressive enough for what I want to do. At 60 PSI it was barely cleaning a slightly rusty exhaust manifold, at 80 PSI is was doing OK, but still waaay to slow.

I am looking at mostly steel/iron parts, I want to remove the rust and paint prep.

What are you using? How aggressive is it?

My other EASY choice is Black beauty and I have a bag for my pressure pot, just looking for experience and other opinions.

BTW, My nearest media supply house is 100 miles away, and they are not open on the weekends, so it isn't easy to get in to look at their choices.

TIA,

Eric

I am using the "first choice" from TP tools and So far I like it. They reccommend 80-85psi. I have only sampled it but tonight I am blasting a crossmember for my 87 and will report back tomorrow. Tom

I like IT!!! It took a nozzle adjustment( and an hour of searching to find the darn things,I put them someplace so safe I couldn't find them) but it works so well on a rusty crossmember that I may leave it in the blasting cabinet for a while to see how it works on other stuff. "1st choice" is good stuff in my never to be humble opinion. Very little dust too!I didn't even run the vacumn for the cabinet. Tom
